Kofi and Crew

So Kofi has found the courage to declare the US as doing things illegally. How brave. I guess it must be easier for the Bureaucrat-in-Chief to judge the US guilty of illegal actions because after it is all said and done the US won't hurt him, nor will US influenced, sponsored, or trained terrorists blow up the UN or Kofi himself.

Bold words for bold times I guess.

It would seem to be a fitting time to try to strike the first blow since more and more people are looking into the corruption of the United Nations and the Oil for Food program. It is laughable how many people want to build the Halliburton connection with Cheney, but don't really care about Kofi's group, including his son, who seem to be all messed up in the scheme with Iraq.

A very important detail that Kofi needs to remember when using such strong terms as illegal: Laws, in order to have any weight, must be enforced. Who will enforce your decree concerning America? Or will you find it in your ever-charitable heart to give us a pass on this one?

When it comes to the United Nations, almost nothing gets accomplished and what does is almost always due to US money, and possible US troops as well. So if Kofi wants to play sheriff then he's going to have to mosey over to where the rowdy US of A is sittin' and have a word with us. If Syria nor Sudan are scared by the UN and Kofi's posturing, it won't bother us either. One of the biggest reasons for this is George W. Bush and his willingness to do things for the sake of the United States and not for the sake of the United Nations.

Kofi seems to be big on posturing, but the sad truth is there are no teeth to UN rules, regulations, or anything else internationally because nations do as they see fit for themselves. Always have, and so long as we have people like George W. Bush the United States shall continue to do so.

Too many people willfully grant far too much authority and power to the unelected group of bureaucrats who run around in this wool wide debate club where everyone nods and claps for each other as if something really profound and meaningful was spoken. There are exceptions; most notably the United States and Israel.

As much as I do not appreciate Charles de Gaulle, I will paraphrase him because it is true that a nation does not have friends - it has interests. The United Nations prove this again and again. So does France and Germany and most of Europe.

The whole Oil for Food scam addresses this very well. Those nations did not care about the people of Iraq, they did not care about the money to the bombers of Israelis waiting for busses, they did not care about Abu Nidal, nor Abu Abbas having ties with Saddam, and they did not care what happened to the large Kurdish population either.

Since these nations were ignoring UN sanctions, I'm curious to know when Kofi will have the courage to speak so loudly about this illegal activity, too. It was in their interest to perpetuate these false sanctions because it granted them a monopoly on selling goods to Saddam since, due to the sanctions, no one else could. Why would they ever vote to actually remove Saddam since they're making money?

This is 'blood money' much more than anything Cheney and Halliburton could have done, but since it is the enlightened Europeans they get a pass.

The UN has treated Iraq poorly. They fled because they were attacked, they have had nothing to do with the situation if it doesn't including making waves for the rebuilding process, and overall have made sure that all the negatives are made bold while anything positive is marginalized.

Good work humanitarian organization.
